So true. That's why it's always helpful to see Christ's example. The Greatest Love hurt the most. "But God demonstrates his love in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us"(Romans 5:8). "For God so loved the world that he gave his son" (John 3:16). "In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another" (1 John 4:10-11). Hmmm... Isn't it interesting? We love to declare Jesus' call for us to love one another...imitating him. But in that love is much pain. So as you feel pain in your care for whom you speak, know that you share in Christ's sufferings...that is, if you lean into it, and not run from it.
